Understand how to troubleshoot the Knick MemoRail, and learn more about the LED settings for quick status indication and error messages.
MemoRail Overview
The MemoRail is a simple, compact digital transmitter with (2) 4…20 mA outputs for transmission of the measured value as well as the temperature value. Configuration is carried out on the front of the device via the DIP switches. The two LEDs display the status of the measurement.
Troubleshooting with LED Settings
A solid red light without the activation of the green LED indicates a failure of the MemoRail transmitter. Based on the setting of DIP switch number 7, you can also expect a mA output of either 22 mA or less than 3.6mA. If this occurs, please contact your local representative to have the device returned for evaluation.
A blinking Red light with the Green LED also lit indicates an issue with the connected Memosens sensor. You should carry out further diagnostics of the sensor with the Knick Portavo portable meter. Sensor calibration or replacement may be necessary. Lastly, if both Green and Red LEDs light up solid, this indicates a breakdown in the measurement loop.
Ensure that your Memosens sensor is working and that the sensor connection to the cable is secure. Also, make sure the connection of your Memosens wires is good at the terminal blocks of the MemoRail, and to set the proper DIP switches for the appropriate measured variable and measurement range. With both Green and Red LEDs lit, the mA output will reflect the setting of DIP switch number 7 of either 22mA or less than 3.6mA.
Of course, you should always carry out more detailed troubleshooting using the Knick Portavo portable meter. Be sure to check out our other videos on the compact DIN rail mounted MemoRail transmitter by Knick.
